Excavation Work Underway for a Home Addition

When a homeowner wants to add on to their house, the work that happens underground is just as important as anything you'll see when it's all finished. Before the framing goes up, before the concrete gets poured - the ground has to be prepared right. That's where we come in.

Here's what we were working with: an existing two-story home with a gravel driveway and an outbuilding nearby. The homeowner needed space excavated right up against the existing foundation to make room for an addition. That means working carefully - you can't just dig aggressively next to an active structure and call it a day. Precision matters here.

We brought in our Kubota mini excavator for this one. It's the right tool for tight residential work like this. Compact enough to maneuver close to the house without tearing up the yard, but powerful enough to move serious material. You can see the excavated soil piled up and the clean cut made right along the foundation line - that kind of controlled digging is what sets up every trade that follows for success.
